Apostolic Perspectives on the Cross of Calvary

We must go beyond His saviourhood and all His activity to see Him before time began as the Eternal Son. What astounds my finite mind is that God has done nothing to become the Father, and the Lord Jesus was always the eternal Son. So it is not His doing, but in His being that overshadows all else. The Apostle Paul never starts his writings with the foundations of the world or sin and redemption, but instead takes us back into the Father-Heart of God to see that desire, purpose and intention which He cherished in Himself before the foundation of the world.   Ephesians. 1: 3-4   Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. Thus we recognise that our highest and fullest conception of God, asTHE FATHER, determines our dedication, calling and conception ofour full maturity.  As kingdom citizens we are called to be expressive of Him and not mere instruments in His hand working for Him, but we are allowing Him to live and manifest Himself through us.  To fully comprehend we MUST go back “ before the beginning” where in our ETERNAL FATHER’S heart we see how He purposed to share Himself with a vast family. Thus it was not man’s sin or defection that determined this purpose of sharing. It was in the Father’s original planning, long before man was ever created or before he sinned, that He determined to share Himself through his only Begotten Son     *    Then what happened when man did turn to his own way????*    God’s plan did not change one bit!!!*    He will still share Himself through His Son, only now He provided redemption through the cross as the important gateway. 1.     But having believed and received this divine Life, God then intends for man to move unto maturity. 2.     Too many live only for the immediate purpose of the cross and does not embark on the present continuous participation.3.     They rejoice in the finished work but know or seemingly care little about the continuous operation of Life within them by Holy Spirit. 4.     It is both a resting in the finished work of Christ but also the continuous work by Holy Spirit that lays the foundation for moving unto maturity. Let me provoke your thinking with this question. Did Jesus Christ visit this earth only because Adam and his descendants have sinned or was it in the original plan and eternal purpose of the Father that: *    his Son should visit earth, *    become incarnate, *    and thereby make possible a vital union with man?  Too long we have been so engrossed with the sin- problem and the time perspective we have become nearsighted and allowed a redemptive consciousness to overshadow our thinking.  To understand the eternal purposes of God: *    we must move out of the time perspective *    into the eternal perspective where we can view every part of God’s program as it is related to the whole background. Let us consider how the Apostle Paul gives us this eternal vantage point from which we may keep all the parts related to the background of the Father’s purpose.    In the opening verses of his letter to the Ephesians several things are clear: 1.Paul starts with the Eternal Father- not the fall of man2.He indicates that God’s purposing was ‘before the foundation of the world’.3.He emphasises that God’s purpose is to be realised through, and is to centre in the Son.4.All this we see is determined in God’s Father heart, not because of the fall, but before the world was made. From this perspective let us now consider these verses: *    “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world’ (1:4)*    “Blessed us with all spiritual blessing in Christ’ (1:3)*    “Predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ” (1:5)*    “He hath made us accepted in the beloved” (1:6) These things the Father has settled in his heart before the foundation of the world. Paul later points out that because man did sin and needs redemption, this provision was also available in Christ the Son. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (1:7) Then finally the Apostle brings us to see the goal toward which God the Father is working:  Eph 1:10  [He planned] for the maturity of the times and the climax of the ages to unify all things and head them up and consummate them in Christ, [both] things in heaven and things on the earth. Eph 3:11  This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord, By focusing our attention on these verses which outline the eternal purpose we lift the Son right out of the usual time perspective that he may be seen more clearly from the Father’s eternal perspective. We should come to understand more clearly how the Father determined that His Son should become incarnate as the means of bringing a vast family of sons into the glorious measure of full stature.  Things look different when we are, in Paul’s words, “seated with Him in heavenly places” viewing the whole picture from the veranda of the universe As we see what God sees, we grasp the divine perspective from eternity to eternity.  Incarnation and redemption correctly related to eternal purpose. *    It is imperative that we see the eternal purpose of God in the incarnation.*    For the Father, it seems, planned to visit this planet by the incarnation of His Son - not because man sinned.*    Rather than to interpret the incarnation as an emergency measure because of man’s defection, it was purposed in eternity. *    Sin and the Fall did not alter God’s eternal plan, but only necessitated that redemption should be incorporated.*    Whilst we know that Jesus came to this earth to die upon a cross, his coming had a more far reaching purpose. *   The realisation of the Father’s original ultimate intention: To demonstrate to man the possibility of incarnating the human and the spiritual.  Jesus was the first of many sons to be birthed in the earth.  Only as we see redemption correctly related to all God’s plan can we appreciate it as we ought.  As it is seen against the background of the eternal purpose how much more important and imperative it becomes as the initial step in realising the Father’s ultimate intention.  2 Timothy 1: 9-10“God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of anything we have done but because of His own PURPOSE and grace. *    This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. *    But it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, *    Who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Deliverance (escape) rightly related to development   How did the eternal Father begin to effect his eternal purpose?Having first created this earth as his theatre, he created Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden. Was Adam in the full stature that God intended?                                                                                                                                                   This is, did he have all the life God intended for him? *    Some believe that Adam, as he came from the creative hand of God, was all God intended he should ever be. *    Accordingly, after Adam’s fall, they contend, man’s greatest need is restoration of that stature from which he has fallen.*    In this trend of thought, it seems to them, God’s present program is the restoration of all things to Adamic and Edenic perfection. This is a very short-sighted perspective.  *    Although Adam did receive the divine image by God’s creative hand, there was much more in God’s purpose for Adam’ s race.*    The plan required a vital union with the Source of Life, and man’s co-operation. *    While Adam was created perfect and innocent he was wholly untried and undeveloped in his moral nature. *    Further, we must distinguish between what Adam was by creation, and what he was to become by union and co-operation with God. *    By natural endowment he had created life and was to be a container which could receive the divine life of God when he would choose it.*    Thus, in the master design, Adam was to become a son in full stature through inner spiritual development. *    Like a flower bud moving to full blossom, so was God’s design for Adam’s full development; and it in no way necessitated sin or the fall as means for accomplishment.*    However, as Adam stood at the open gateway there were two trees - representing two ways before him.*    There was opportunity for development along two mutually exclusive lines.*    The tree of knowledge of good and evil = development of the soul powers.*    Tree of life = a living union with God. Either choice would bring a development in stature, either soulish or spiritual. Since Adam and his descendants have tasted of the tree of knowledge and developed their soulish powers, there must be a radical deliverance from this wrong development before there can be any spiritual development unto full stature. In man’s desperate need for deliverance he is prone to forget that deliverance is only the doorway to a spiritual development.  *    We are more engrossed with being delivered from than being developed unto. *    We just want to get out of bondage !*    We just want to be free from slavery !*    We just want to make it to heaven ! This dominating deliverance consciousness has warped and blinded the average church and it’s members unto lethargy. Because their goal has been escape from sin and it’s penalty, they have never seen or heard of God’s calling to the full stature. Until this controlling philosophy has received a death - blow we need not expect much change in the lives of it’s subjects.    Escape correctly related to fulfilment  Why is there so much emphasis on escapism?Or on running from circumstances instead of facing them? 1.     The undertone reveals that at heart man is still controlled by a philosophy of escape. 2.     They have never moved through the Cross to become ‘dead indeed unto’ their old selfish ego, that they may become “alive unto God” 3.     God’s original intention for Adam - and for every other man, was that he should embrace the way of fulfillment.  4.     Those who live only by the narrow perspective of escaping by Jesus’ Cross have great difficulty to understand Paul’s kind of dedication, calling and purpose. 5.     It is true that His cross did make a way of escape, that all of Adam’s fallen family may be set free from sin, self, the world, the devil and death. 6.     Too many stop with a way of escape without seeing the cross really leads to a way of fulfillment. 7.     It is when we reach God’s highway of fulfillment that the cross is transferred from being merely external to an internal work in our lives. *    Externally the cross is God poured out. *    Internally the cross is us poured out. To the extend that we embrace the way of the cross internally will we move into the way of fulfillment. The very issues that Adam dodged are once again present. We will have to choose intimacy and fellowship to bring about the full stature of God in us. It is possible to be saved from hell and destruction and yet be lost to the ultimate intention of God?

The Ministry and the Marketplace (Ron Wood)

Many of you know that there is a recurring theme, a thread of revelation that’s surfaced in recent years. I’ve heard this move of God described as “an end-time transfer of wealth.” The Lord has instructed me about Job and Joseph as end-time examples. The fact is- God is invading the secular arena. His kingdom is bigger than just the church!  While some people don’t desire to deal with issues of money, our Lord Jesus didn’t hesitate to address it. (Luke 19:11-27) It is a core issue to anyone concerned for being a disciple of Christ and it is a major paradigm shift if we are to walk in new apostolic ways God isn’t broke! Indeed, there is plenty of money to fulfil the Great Commission… it’s just in the wrong hands. But God has a program in place to fix it and to finish it! The good news is that fixing the problem involves great favor and blessing flowing generously to God’s people! I awoke one morning with these words repeating themselves in my mind, as though the Lord was instructing my spirit in the night. It’s only two sentences but it discloses a divine exchange and it uncovers a devilish problem. (I reported this in an word last year called “Men with Money and the Mantle of God.”) It seems primarily addressed to pastors battling old traditions or to apostles and prophets needing funding, but it also speaks to people with property or financial power who love the Lord. “Either men of God will lay their ministries down at the feet of men with money,or, men with money will lay their resources down at the feet of men of God.” “If you trade your mantle for money, you get neither in the end.If you trade your money for the mantle, you will obtain both.” What follows is my consideration of these thoughts based on thirty years of being a pastor, of being on apostolic teams, of having prophetic insights, and also frequently being involved in the business arena. In all arenas of labor, leadership and resources were always critical issues. Anyone who has been a pastor for any length of time has probably had this experience: “Preacher, if you’ll just handle the preaching and leave the finances to us, we’ll make this church great!” In other words, yield control of the money to those who are not called or anointed by God to be church leaders.  Why is this idea problematic? From my experience, here is an undeniable fact: Whoever controls the money also controls the church.  Years ago, I came to the realization that the battle to succeed in the ministry is primarily over two things: the mantle (God’s anointing, for example, Elijah’s mantle- the grace of God in someone’s life to give wisdom, knowledge, authority to build the church or win the war) and the money (financial resources- power to do things, affect situations, or support workers). Both these things empower God’s leaders to fulfil their calling to make disciples, to bless the poor, and to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.  I understood this word I heard to mean that if a man of God gives away his authority or anointing in order to be financed, then he forfeits the power to fulfil his purpose and thus becomes a hireling, someone no longer sent from the Lord to be received with honor, but rather, of diminished rank, merely hired by the people.  The anointing from the Lord rests upon the lives of those whom He sends. That anointing on their gifting and calling (who they are in Christ) is their mantle of authority, the divine grace that causes them to be effective in the work of the gospel. It is more precious than gold. Value your ministerial gift; stir it up; treasure it highly. It is the Lord working through you.  Why is there a conflict between money and the mantle? Ideally, there should not be any friction. But corrupt hearts can yield to temptation. Jesus said our heart cannot serve both God and mammon. The Spirit of God says, “Unto Jesus shall the gathering of the people be. At Jesus’ feet shall the wealth of the nations be laid.” The activation of God’s covenant to create wealth is part of the apostolic equipping for the end of the age. The end of the church will resemble its beginning as recorded in Acts. “…all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles’ feet…” (Acts 4:34)  Not all preachers or pastors are apostles. Denominations have created unbiblical titles. The Latin word for missionary corresponds to the Greek word for apostle, but religious traditions have gutted its original meaning. Now, church groups often send someone out and call them a missionary, but in fact they are simply a deacon or a teacher or a preacher or a pastor who happens to have crossed an ocean. Crossing an ocean doesn’t make someone into an apostle. Apostles are Christ’s sent ones, sent by Him to a specific place, to a specific people, to accomplish a specific purpose. They have the fruit to prove their apostleship not only by the divine grace they embody but also by the credentials of signs, sons, and seals that testify to their being sent from God. (I hope to release more teaching on this topic soon in my study, Apostolic Career Mapping: A Matrix for Evaluating the Maturity, Ministry, and Mindset of Young Apostles.)  Anyone on an assignment from the Lord has God’s help, but also the devil’s resistance. Opposition is not an indicator that you missed God. In a dream, I once overheard two angels having a discussion. One asked, “Where do apostles come from?”  The other angel answered, “Out from under great pressure.” The Opposition you face is proportionate to your degree of authorization. Your suffering is related to your assignment. The anointing attracts angels- of all kinds! So don’t be surprised when resistance occurs. Open doors may be accompanied by peril and attack.  Don’t be alarmed at fiery trials. Opposition to God’s servants is ultimately from The Resistor. Satan, who hates the kingdom of light and opposes it at every turn. However, the devil usually uses ignorant or evil people to accomplish his wicked schemes. The devil employs untaught, misguided, or malicious people as pawns, making them think suspiciously or behave arrogantly so as to control the church’s money and thus choke off the supply for fulfilment of the vision. One tool he deploys is greed, inflaming men’s hearts with lust for power or fame or money. Idols are usually silver and gold (Psalms 135:15) and all covetousness is idolatry. (Ephesians 5:5) To covet something is to grasp for or to be greedy for something or someone that is not yours to possess or was not given to you by God. “Freely you have received, freely give.” Coveting is selfish while grace is manifested by gratitude, generosity, and releasing resources away from ourselves. The apostle Paul associated the ability to give generously with great grace, and used the example of our Lord Jesus to illustrate this truth. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9 NAS) When did He become poor? Not while He walked the earth with His apostolic team, for He had many supporters and contributors Luke 8:3 shows us that many of these donors were women who partnered with Him in His ministry. At His trial and crucifixion, His garment was a seamless robe, very expensive. He gave away offerings to the poor and received expensive sacrifices of perfume. He fed and housed a travelling team of perhaps dozens of people. When did He become poor? First, in His incarnation, when He stepped into our world of grit and grime and time-bound limitations, a dismal and bleak environment when compared to the eternal glory of His Father. Second, when He laid aside His divine prerogatives to exercise authority on His own volition and instead submitted as a man does to God and did only what the Father wanted Him to do. Third, when He absorbed every curse of sin and rebellion due to mankind as He hung naked and impoverished on the cross, exhausting the punishment due us for our lawlessness ever since Adam’s fall.  But today, Jesus is not broke! He walks on streets of gold and wears radiant glory as a garment. Revelation 5:12 says, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” (NAS)  Jesus deserves dominion… He earned it! While Jesus awaits His triumphal return to receive His kingdom on the earth, He has anointed servants of His kingdom who are preparing the way by extending the gospel to the end of the earth. That gospel of grace produces eternal life in those who believe. It also produces a new kingdom culture, a new lifestyle, a transformed people who not only worship God in church but also transform their education, their government, and their secular social order by responding to God’s word. Those servants of Jesus are anointed in two primary areas: As Priests in the house, and as Kings in the marketplace. All of us are part of a kingdom of priests and kings (Rev. 1:6). All of us serve Jesus as Lord whether we are “on staff” at a church or on a payroll at General Electric. In God’s kingdom, all vocations are holy, although some workers are set apart by the Lord to be devoted to the Word of God and to prayer and should live off the tithe. The tithe is called in the Bible “holy unto the Lord” and is intended for God’s servants. We are not to rob God’s servants by defrauding them of the tithe. To do so invites a curse upon us. Every Christian should at least tithe and, by God’s grace, give generously above the tithe. (For more on this subject see my book, “The Thief in the Storehouse.”) Ideally, men with money will adopt sanctified ideas regarding resources and will team up with men of God to advance Christ’s kingdom. In the process and along the path of pursuing God together, these businessmen and land owners or wealthy people will also become men and women of God and become known in heaven as partners with apostles, fellow-laborers in the work. Just like we expect men of God with an anointing to have pure motives, likewise, the Lord is now expecting the same thing of those He has entrusted with financial resources.  Ultimately, it is a matter of resolving key issues of faith: 1)      Do I have enough faith to trust this leader and to share or invest in his vision? 2)      Do I believe that God really is the source of my blessings? Is there more to come if I give?3)      Do I believe that God has sent this person– that the Lord has brought truly us together? By picturing prosperous Christians teaming up with men and women who carry apostolic grace, I am not at all discounting the wonderful flowering of a new understanding regarding the majority of believers: that is, there are believers anointed by the Lord to succeed in the educational, financial, and governmental areas and they carry a similar anointing to that of apostles and prophets, those pioneers who can see the needed transitions and can build on new ides or principles of Godly conduct so as to become a blessing to many others.  For more insight on this pivotal topic, I have a new 60 minute teaching tape called “Outside the Sanctuary,” which can be ordered by mail for an offering of any amount.  Because this subject is so important, I want to include a bibliography of related reading material produced by sound scholars which I have recently studied. Here is that list of books: Lasting Investments by Kent Humphreys (NavPress), Changing Church by Peter Wagner (Regal), Anointed for Business by Ed Silvoso (Regal), and Good to Great by Jim Collins (HarperBusiness). Jim Collins also wrote Built to Last. Both of his books address the issue of transforming our endeavors so as to succeed in our God-given mandate from one generation to the next. My wife and I have also been discussing an excellent book we read years ago but she is now re-reading, Managing Transitions, by William Bridges. It has profound insights into handling corporate changes and how it affects us personally.  Most of these books can be order from our new on-line Christian bookstore: www.touchedbygraceministries.spreadtheword.com   © 2003 by Ronald Wood, President of Touched by Grace Inc., P. Developing Sustainable Leadership

The greatest demand upon our 21st century is that of leadership. Leadership is like beauty, it’s difficult to define but you know it when you see it.  The key to success in any endeavor is the ability to lead others successfully.  Everything rises and falls on leadership.  Leadership is the key to everything. The effectiveness of your ministry will never rise above your ability to lead and influence others.  You cannot produce consistently on a level higher than your leadership.  In essence your leadership skills determine the level of your success, and the success of those who work around you. Recently, News Magazine published this remark by the president of Hyatt hotels: “if there is anything I have learnt in my 27 years in the service industry, it is this:  99 percent of all employees want to do a good job.  How they perform is simply a reflection of the one for whom they work.  It is determined by the quality of leadership”. What is leadership?   This question has a thousand answers.  It has been studied and explored by many philosophers, poets, sages, gurus and wise men for centuries.  However, the conclusive definition when simplified is:  leadership is influence. That’s it, nothing more and nothing less. There is a leadership proverb which says:  “he who thinketh he leadeth and hath no one following him is only taking a walk.” James C. George of the Para-training corporation said it effectively in an interview with executive communications, “Remove for a moment the moral issue behind leadership, and there is only one definition:  leadership is the ability to obtain followers.” If this is true, then every one of us has experienced some degree of leadership at different times in our life. Sociologist tell us that even the most introverted person will influence at least ten thousand other people in his or her lifetime!  This means that all of us are leading in some areas; while in other areas we are being led. No one is excluded from being a leader or a follower.  Therefore, you and I must decide what kind of leadership influence we wish to be under.  This will determine the quality of leader we will become….

Quality of leadership

If the general definition of leadership is influence, then is all influence good leadership? Leadership is like everything else in life … It comes in a variety of qualities.  Just as there are different qualities of fruit, diamonds, fish or cars, so it is with leadership. There is such a thing as negative influence, bad influence, poor influence and good influence. Speaking of leadership quality, over two thousand years ago, the greatest leader of all time said it this way:  “they are blind leaders of the blind … And if the blind lead the blind they all fall into the ditch.”   His contention was that a leader, though a leader, can be blind. Therefore, the question is not do we need leaders today, but do we have quality, effective, efficient, competent, moral and principle-centered leaders. The highest form of leadership is influence through inspiration…. Not manipulation, threat or fear.  Much of what we call leadership is simply sophisticated manipulation.

What is true leadership?

What are the qualities of a true leader?  What are the characteristics of good leadership?  How can you identify effective, competent, and safe leadership? Before we can answer these critical questions, we must first admit that much of the quality of leadership experienced in this past century were plagued with:  defective character, moral corruption, ethical contamination, personal greed, compromise, selfish ambition and the abuse of power. The 21st century will require a new breed of leadership committed to a higher quality and standard of service.  Leadership that sustains and is sustainable. True leadership identifies, cultivates and develops the leadership potential in all those who follow. True leadership produces leaders. The greatest pleasure of true leadership is not the maintenance of followers but the production of leaders.  True leaders make themselves increasingly unnecessary. True leaders transform followers into leaders. In recent years the gurus of leadership philosophy have coined a word to describe the leadership quality of the 21st century leader … They call it transformational leadership. What is transformational leadership? This form of leadership is as old as the bible and was re-introduced 2000 years ago by the ultimate leader, Jesus Christ. Transformational leadership is leadership motivated by the philosophy that trapped in every follower is a hidden leader.  That every man has leadership potential in some area of gifting. Transformational leadership is committed to share participative leadership and corporate ownership of the vision. Transformational leadership exceeds the boundaries of democracy and elevates us to corporate submission. Transformational leadership is the leadership of the 21st century.  It’s now. Transformational leadership is the new context for corporate management. Transformational leadership is the new work-place culture of our information age. Transformational leadership is the new philosophy for the 21st century labour union. Transformational leadership is the new table on which the contract between employee and employer is signed.   Transformational leadership provides the atmosphere that meets the human need, a sense of importance, significance and appreciation. Transformational leadership restores the dignity to all men and gives each a sense of purpose and contribution. Most of the present leadership philosophy is a product of Greek philosophy, which reduces the masses as stooges that need to be ruled, and controlled by the elected elitist few. This leadership school of thought is the greatest tragedy of the last two centuries and is the incubator that produced most of the leaders we have today. This is the reason for so much industrial unrest.  People feel helpless, hopeless, used and abused.  They feel they have no say in the development, direction and participation in their work environment.  Most feel like victims. Their sense of importance, value and worth is buried under corporate pursuit.  It is important for corporate, political, religious and civic leaders to remember that organizations and companies are not buildings, furniture, machines and computers, but they are people – human beings. Sustainable leadership… Everything is changing.  The entire world is changing, and if you and I are going to succeed in this changing environment, we must study, understand, adapt and prepare for this change. Effective leadership today is leadership that understands that old solutions may no longer be suitable for contemporary problems. Effective leadership today must be willing to change old methods, retire irrelevant systems and bury outdated programs in order to embrace the changes in this dynamic global environment. We cannot afford and must not think small or narrow any longer.  We must develop leadership that is capable and competent to take our people into the 21st century. Nations measure their wealth and strength in terms of three letters gnp (gross national production).  This means the wealth and strength of a nation is determined by the collective productivity of its people. In essence, the labour force of the nation is the key to its wealth and strength.  The quality and work ethic of the national work force is the quality of the nation wealth.  And the quality of the work force is determined by the leadership that influences that force.   We must remember that true leadership is not the pursuit of power but of service.   Abraham Lincoln said:  “nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”  The purpose of power is service.  To bring positive change. Today we need sustainable leadership that is: Self confident, self discovered and self secure. Leadership that has a clear vision of the future of an organization. Leadership that can create a sensible vision for others and then direct them towards achieving that vision. Leadership that have earned the trust and confidence of others through ethical standards and integrity. Leadership that elicits teamwork, corporation and inclusion in its management. Leadership that believes in the value and worth of each human and a passion to help fulfill there potential. Leadership that makes frequent uses of creative problem solving and dare to challenge the conventional when it is in the best interest of all involved. Leadership that displays enthusiasm, passion and inspires others to attain high levels of performance.  Leadership that persistently pursues a win-win situation all the time. Leadership that creates the right environment for the success of others and knows basic human needs. This is the kind of leadership that will sustain the positive momentum needed for the 21st century.  Leadership that transforms followers into leaders, and leaders into agents of change. Release the leader within you !

The Crisis of Leadership

Gen: 1 26 “And God said let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule………. Whenever God creates, there is a purpose in His heart.God produces the nature within you to fulfil His purpose. Gen: 1 27 “ So God created man in His own image and likeness. His image and likeness in the Hebrew means: 1 His authority2 His character

3 His moral and spiritual nature

It is God’s nature to display power and rulershipHe rules the universe, some of God’s character is in you. God established man’s purpose by these words: “let them have dominion over all the earth” This declaration confirms his ordination of the following purpose: 1 God created man to dominate the earth2 He gave dominion over the earth to both male and female, let them have dominion, the male was not created to dominate the female3 He never gave man the authority to dominate one another.4 He specified what they were to dominate “the earth” and not one another.5 They were created to dominate and not to be dominated. Lets look at a few definitions of the word dominate:It means to rule, to command, to subject, to master over, to influence, to manage, to keep under control, to lead, to govern and to have power over. When God told you to dominate, He told you to lead. Lets take a look at the development  of the crisis of leadership in the earth. God did not create followers, followers are a product of the fall/curse.Subordination is a product of the fall/curseWhat actually happened with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? Doubted God Denial of the truthDeception DisobedienceDeath to Gods intentions How did the curse impact Adam and Eve? To the woman He said: Childbearing through tribulation and domination by the husband [That is outside of Christ]To the man He said: Cursed is the ground because of you, through hard work you will eat of it The very earth that man was supposed to dominate is now dominating him. 1 Tobacco leaf2 Cocaine leaf3 Grapevine4 Money (made from a tree) Man is controlled by the earth. The relentless redeemer Long before the fall God’s heart was for redemption. [He came to them.]There sin marred their appointed rolls in God’s economy, but God had a plan for restoration.Throughout history we see the relentless redeemer at work to bring about an administration suitable. His purpose is to have a kingdom on earth under the undisputed KINGSHIP of Jesus. His method is to kill his son as the only acceptable sacrifice for the sin of man whom He chose to create in His own image. The application of this plan, is to use the church as the medium to usher in the fullness of His Kingdom. The crisis is that man cannot lead outside of a meaningful relationship with God, we see this demonstrated on a daily basis. See how quickly the rot set in:First the Garden of Eden was polluted by sinThen Eden was marred by Blood (First murder)Then God needed to wipe the earth clean with a flood (All of this took place in the first few chapters of Genesis) Throughout the Old Testament we see a relentless Redeemer at work with the patriarchs and Israel. He Himself will become the Lamb upon the altar.  But Jesus came to transform followers back into leadersJesus conceived by the Holy Spirit is God’s solution.2 Cor 5 17 20Col 2 13 15

God want to have representatives on the earth

The purpose of leadership is not the maintenance of followers but the production of leaders.A true leader works himself out of a job.Insecurity is usually manifested by the domination of people.Leaders who need their ego stroked by people who constantly need them. Leadership is being and doing being = become      doing = do Leadership is the ability to inspire others to become and fulfil themselves by you doing the same. Leadership equals the function of the designated positionA title and a position do not guarantee function. Real qualities of leadership are found in individuals who are willing to suffer for objectives great enough to demand wholehearted obedience.Leadership is influence.Leadership is the capacity to rally men and woman to a common cause and inspire confidence.A leader is a person who knows the road, keep ahead and pulls others after him.A leader is a person who can get others to do what they don’t want to do and like it. Chinese proverb There are only three kinds of people in the world.1 Those who are moveable2 Those who are immovable3 And those who move the both (leaders move them both)Leadership is not a function of titles, it is a function of relationships.A leader is anyone with followers, you cannot be a leader without followers. Leadership is the capacity to:Influence, inspire, rally, direct, encourage, motivate, induce, move, mobilize and activate others to pursue a common goal/purpose while maintaining commitment, motivation, confidence and courage. Leadership by its very nature demands a clear vision which provides the fuel for inspiration.Leadership is impossible without passion and purpose. If you want to become an effective leader the principle question is, do you have a guiding vision that warrants the commitment, time, and energy and money of the people you seek to lead. Where there is no passionate vision, people throw off constraint. Whenever a nation falls apart, God goes looking for a leader. The leader restores discipline, order and restraint. (Joshua) Leadership is the capacity to draw the best out of people and to inspire them to maximise there own potential.Leadership causes people to become themselves. (real)The truest form of leadership is influence through inspiration. Leadership by the agency of fear, intimidation and manipulation is not true leadership. The most important facet of leadership is inspiration.Inspiration is opposed to intimidation and free of manipulation. Too often in leadership fear is the motivation rather than commitment based on response to inspired life. If true leadership has its source in inspiration, then you better find out where inspiration comes from! What does inspiration mean? How do you get it?Where does it come from? Inspiration = God breathed [ literally means to inflate with life ] Leadership is not a product of training, although it is helpful.Leaders become leaders when God breathes vision into them.A leader is a hard person to kill. You are not a leader until you are willing to die for what you see.Leaders don’t work for people. Everyone has the capacity / potential and raw material to become a leader.“I have seen the burden that God has placed upon man”What is this burden? It is to wrestle with your purpose in God Most people die without knowing who they really were. How do you become the leader you were born to be?You were born to lead, but you must become a leader. Capacity is not equal to realityWhen you leave this planet it must be different to what it was when you first arrived. Leadership is becoming what you were born to be, you were born to be something that your generation demands now, that is why God gave birth to you. Only discovering God’s purpose and being enthused by  that purpose can make you a leader. The third world needs to prepare itself for it’s day of glory and power We are living in the transition of ages, a literal move into the third day.We have to see greater responsibility come to our churches regarding assuming and developing leadership for every sphere of society.“Arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you” A spirit of destiny demands responsibility and action       Zeal and excitement is no longer enough, we need skill and precision. Leadership is like beauty, it’s hard to define, but you know it when you see it.History has left us with a legacy of outstanding individuals who influenced and changed the world. Amongst them were men and woman, rich and poor, learned and unlearned.

Discerning the spirit of antichrist in disobedience & rebellion

What & who is antichrist? “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:1-4 KJV) Our battle to regain dominance in the earth Eph 6:12  For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. The war is over the Word that is spoken over your life 1Sa 15:22  Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 1Sa 15:23  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim (household good luck images). Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.  The mandate: Gen 1:26  God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. [Ps. 104:30; Heb. 1:2; 11:3.] Gen 1:27  So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. [Col. 3:9, 10; James 3:8, 9.] Gen 1:28  And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth. —————————————————————————————–

The effects of the arrival of Lucifer upon earth caused the fall of the foundation of the earth. God foresaw this down the corridors of time and put His preparation in place.  ·        The Spirit of Rebellion has been released in the earth with the fall of Lucifer. ·        Potentially all the inhabitants of the earth are rebellious. ·        It requires a work of grace to break the spirit of rebellion in mankind. (Jesus demonstrated obedience to the Father) ·        Rebellion is a product of the Adamic nature, it is not a product of the Christ nature.·        Walking in the spirit of submission is Anti-World. ·        Walking in the spirit of rebellion is Anti-Christ Disobedience is the seed of Anti-Christ that seeks opportunity to germinate in us to produce rebellion that leads to death.Num 16:1  NOW KORAH son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men, Num 16:2  And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the Israelites, 250 princes or leaders of the congregation called to the assembly, men well known and of distinction. Num 16:3  And they gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, [Enough of you!] You take too much upon yourselves, seeing that all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you lift yourselves up above the assembly of the Lord? Num 16:4  And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face. Num 16:5  And he said to Korah and all his company, In the morning the Lord will show who are His and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him; him whom He has chosen will He cause to come near to Him. [II Tim. 2:19.]  How God dealt with the rebellion of Korah. Num 16:24  Say to the congregation, Get away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Num 16:25  Then Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. Num 16:26  And he said to the congregation, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins. Num 16:27  So they got away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood in the door of their tents with their wives, and their sons, and their little ones. Num 16:28  And Moses said, By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I do not act of my own accord: Num 16:29  If these men die the common death of all men or if [only] what happens to everyone happens to them, then the Lord has not sent me. Num 16:30  But if the Lord causes a new thing [to happen], and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up, with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol (the place of the dead), then you shall understand that these men have provoked (spurned, despised) the Lord! Num 16:31  As soon as he stopped speaking, the ground under the offenders split apart Num 16:32  And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households and [Korah and] all [his] men and all their possessions. [Num. 26:10, 11.] Num 16:33  They and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol (the place of the dead); and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. How God instructed Israel to deal with rebellious childrenDeu 21:18  If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or his mother and though they chasten him will not listen to them, Deu 21:19  Then his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, Deu 21:20  And they shall say to the elders of his city, This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey our voice. He is a glutton and a drunkard. [Prov. 23:20-22.] Deu 21:21  Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death; so you shall cleanse out the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear and [reverently] fear.  God knows the power and devastation of rebellion therefore He wants it removed from His camp.2Sa 15:1  AFTER THIS, Absalom got a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him. ( A desire for visibility)2Sa 15:2  And [he] rose up early and stood beside the gateway; and when any man who had a controversy came to the king for judgment, Absalom called to him, Of what city are you? And he would say, Your servant is of such and such a tribe of Israel. 2Sa 15:3  Absalom would say to him, Your claims are good and right, but there is no man appointed as the king’s agent to hear you. 2Sa 15:4  Absalom added, Oh, that I were judge in the land! Then every man with any suit or cause might come to me and I would do him justice! 2Sa 15:5  And whenever a man came near to do obeisance to him, he would put out his hand, take hold of him, and kiss him. 2Sa 15:6  Thus Absalom did to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel  Ahab’s silent rebellion1Ki 21:1  NOW NABOTH the Jezreelite had a vineyard in Jezreel, close beside the palace of Ahab king of Samaria; and after these things, 1Ki 21:2  Ahab said to Naboth, Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near my house. I will give you a better vineyard for it or, if you prefer, I will give you its worth in money. 1Ki 21:3  Naboth said to Ahab, The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you. 1Ki 21:4  And Ahab [already depressed by the Lord’s message to him] came into his house [more] resentful and sullen because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said to him; for he had said, I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down on his bed, turned away his face, and would eat no food. Silent rebellion can be far more violent than open rebellion. The unspoken manifestation of rebellion. The tantrum of wicket silence.Anti-Christ is predominantly a spirit of rebellion against Christ’s will for your life.

Witchcraft in the Church! (Rick Joyner)

A number of converted witches are going about the country today, warning that Satanists and practicing witches are infiltrating the church — especially charismatic churches. Some of these former witches have authored books telling of a diabolical plot by evil witches to enter congregations posing as super-spiritual Christians. Their purpose is to deceive and shipwreck pastors and to lead multitudes of naive believers into occult worship.

Many of these evil witches, they say, are already firmly established in numerous churches, controlling both the pastor and congregation and causing great confusion, wickedness, divorce — even death. We have received many letters in our office from people who say they believe their pastor must be under some kind of demonic influence — and I believe many of these letters are very legitimate.

Saints, we in the Body of Christ dare not allow the devils power to be magnified in the house of God! His power is limited, and he cannot penetrate a Holy Ghost wall of fire. When the disciples were sent out with power to heal the sick and raise the dead, they came back rejoicing: “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” (Luke 10:17)

The only pastor who can fall under the control of a witch is one who indulges in secret sin — who is driven by greed or success, or who has betrayed the Lord through unbelief or neglect! A man of God who has mortified the deeds of the flesh and wields the sword of the Lord will know the enemy. He will discern any trap and will stand against the wicked one, as Paul did with the witch at Philippi.

Heres what happened: A slave girl possessed by the devil — that is, a practicing witch with a spirit of divination — sought to infiltrate Pauls ministry! She followed after Paul and his companions, crying out, “These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation” (Acts 16:17)

But Pauls spirit was disturbed. He discerned that the girl was not converted and that she had no right to touch holy things. He perceived a trap. So he turned and said to the evil spirit in her, “I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And (the demon) came out the same hour” (verse 18).

Paul was unmoved by the demon powers. He was led by the Holy Spirit and full of the Word of God. But the Bible tells of one group of supposed ministers that was attacked — literally — and overcome by a demon. These were the seven sons of Sceva. When they tried to cast a demon out of a man, the evil spirit leaped on them, tore off their clothes and sent them running into the street in a panic — all because they didnt know Jesus. They were not full of Christ!

Those Who Walk In Holiness
Resist the Devil

Ministers of the gospel who fall into deep sin dont exactly have a demon “leap” upon them; they arent seduced by a witch. They are led astray by their own lusts and desires! They have gotten off holy ground and have begun to cruise the devils territory!

No congregation that walks in holiness and the fear of God can be deceived or controlled by witches or evil spirits. Only pleasure-mad, Bible-and-holiness-rejecting churches are open to Satans attempts to move in.

Wherever the Word of God is exalted, wherever people separate themselves from wickedness and the world, wherever there is true repentance and obedience to the Holy Ghost — there Jesus will always manifest His presence!

A congregation that is bathed in the presence of Jesus doesnt have to scream commands at wicked powers. The very power of Jesus drives out all that is wicked! Satan and his evil hordes simply cannot coexist with Christs presence. We resist the devil by being full of Jesus — by living and worshipping in His presence!

Are there really churches and pastors today that are falling under the control of witches and demons? Absolutely, yes!

I know of one large Pentecostal church wholly given over to Satan. The pastor had a lustful, evil spirit. He committed one act of adultery after another, and soon his wife became involved. The pastor and his wife eventually introduced something into the congregation called “connections”. They developed an entire doctrine around it.

First they brought ballroom dancing into the sanctuary. The pastor told the people to look into their partners eyes until the Holy Spirit made a “connection”. Pastors, leaders and deacons became involved. They began swapping wives, committing adultery.

Before long, it all became chaotic. Divorce became rampant. Parishioners began having nervous breakdowns. The pastors son committed suicide. His daughter divorced and ran off with another man. More suicides broke out. One young mother was so distraught over her husbands leaving her that she drowned her baby in the bathtub so the babys soul would be safe with Jesus!

That church has been utterly destroyed — it is embroiled today in numerous lawsuits — all because of the unbridled lust of a backslidden pastor! That one man, full of Satan, opened up his entire flock to demonic powers!

Beloved, be careful where you go to church! Be careful that you have discernment, because a pastor who has opened himself to Satan can open your heart to demonic powers.

Yet this message has to do with a kind of witchcraft that is a even more dangerous than that. It is much more subtle.

It is brought into the church not by evil shepherds or by witches — but by multitudes of Christians who dont know they are under the spell of witchcraft!

The kind of witchcraft I want to expose is present here in Times Square Church — and in every church in America! In fact, it is in every church in the world, to some measure. It may be only a seed — but it is still there.

You ask, “How could the devil possibly deceive Gods elect? With occult seductions?” No! Thats too obvious. We could easily discern the devices of Satan in that area. No, he comes to us in another way. His attack is so very subtle that few Christians ever recognize it.

Rebellion Is As the Sin of Witchcraft
(1 Samuel 15:23).

When the Lord showed me the kind of witchcraft present in the church today, it shook my soul. It is revealed in 1 Samuel 15:22-23: “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”

The Bible describes here a witchcraft far more dangerous than the occult. It controls more pastors and congregations than any other kind of demonic influence. It is rebellion against the Word of God!

Dont be quick to sit back and relax, thinking, “Thank God, that cant possibly mean me. Im not rebellious against Gods Word. I love the Word. Im walking in obedience!”

Thats what I thought, too. But then God convicted me of the dangers of falling under the spell of this witchcraft! He showed me the seed of its beginnings — exactly what erupted in the Garden of Eden! We all have the seed of this sin. In fact, you may unknowingly be under the influence of this evil charm.

Jesus gives us a parable that exposes this witchcraft! Ive read the parable of the evil husbandmen many times. Ive prayed over it. But not until now have I seen in it the witchcraft that Jesus was exposing.

There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent other servants more that the first: and they did unto them likewise. But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.

“But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons” (Matthew 21: 33-41)

This parable is more than a retelling of how the Jews rejected Gods appeal from heaven — and how they would be cast aside and the Gentiles made the husbandmen. It is also about a great supernatural battle over an inheritance. Its about a battle between the power of Jesus Christ and the power of Satan for the souls and allegiance of mankind! Its about who is going to rule and reign in the hearts of Gods chosen! And beloved, youre either under the power of Jesus Christ or under the influence of Satan!

You see, this parable is about how a people of God can become bewitched by the devil and end up totally possessed by an anti-Christ spirit. Christ was talking here of a most powerful form of witchcraft — rebellion against the truth!

Here is the Key to this parable: “This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance” (verse 38). That is the devil speaking! “Let us create rebellion against the Son! Let us crucify Him! We will take control!”

It is true that when the Pharisees heard this parable, “they perceived that he spake of them” (verse 45). But Jesus is also speaking to His church! In Hebrews 6:5, we find a people who “have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come….” They have rebelled against that good Word they heard, and as a result, “they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame” (verse 6).

Who is crucifying Christ over and over again, putting Him to open shame before the whole world? Are they witches? Satanists? Homosexuals? Murderers? No!

They are those who heard, tasted and partook of the true Word of God — and then allowed a spirit of rebellion to take root! Satan moved in, and they ended up possessed — crucifying Christ!

Believer, I tell you on the authority of Gods Word that as long as you have this spirit of rebellion in you, it is impossible for God to revive or renew you! “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost…if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance” (verse 4,6).

I believe this means that repentance has no effect whatsoever in those who are in rebellion against the Word!

Lets look more closely at this form of witchcraft in the church.

The Witchcraft of Rebellion Begins
With a Little Root of Bitterness!

I want to talk to you about being poisoned with the “gall of bitterness.” Peter introduced this phrase when he rebuked Simon, a new convert who had offered money in exchange for the power of the Holy Ghost to lay hands on people for baptisms and miracles.

“And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

“But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity” (Acts 8: 18-23).

“Gall” here means envy — a dangerous poison. And Simon was infected with it! I believe he also had a heart to help people, which helped disguise his condition. Verse 13 says he believed, was baptized and “continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done”.

Something deadly lay underneath! All the while Simon was saying to himself, “I can do that, too! Im gifted. I feel for people. Give me a chance!”

Simon had a dangerous mixture in his heart. It was a desire to be used by God — mixed with a desire for preeminence! He truly wanted God to use him, but he also needed recognition. He wanted power and place, without paying the right price! He wanted a shortcut.

So it is in the work of God today. Many are trying to take shortcuts to get to a place of power and usefulness. We offer our talents and abilities to the Lord — but if you have the talent and dont have a servants heart, God cant use you!

In his third epistle, John tells of a man named Diotrephes who “loved to have the preeminence among them” (3 John 9). When things did not go his way, he began “prating against” the brethren with malicious words.

A “prater” is one who babbles over trifles. Diotrephes was offended by Johns message, and he began to gossip. His vanity had been pricked, his pride wounded. So he went about telling a story of being wounded by other servants of God. He disrupted the peace of the brethren and won many to his side.

This wasnt gross sin; it wasnt doctrinal error. It was the sin of impatience! He couldnt wait for God to do the work. He wanted preeminence — and he probably sounded so right!

A Wounded Spirit Is Fertile Ground
For a Root of Bitterness!

“A wounded spirit who can bear?” (Proverbs 18:14). How could the Israelites of Isaiahs time have become so fallen, so backslidden, so depressed in such a short time? Isaiah explains it: “From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrefying sores: They have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment” (Isaiah 1:6).

The prophet went on to warn the people of God who had open wounds, sores and bruises. He said as long as they went on bleeding, with blood on their hands, God could not hear them in such a condition: “And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood” (verse 15).

Whose blood is the Lord talking about? Your own! Youre bleeding from an open wound in your heart! Its oozing blood! You need healing! You need your wound softened with the oil of the Holy Ghost!

Yet many of you dont run to the Master for healing. You dont realize that Satan is trying to get you into the witchcraft of rebellion. You see, God wont listen to a voice that cries out but wont accept His deliverance!

Let me show you how dangerous rebellion is, and why God calls it witchcraft: The husbandmen of the parable were Gods children. They were engaged in religious work. How could an upright Pharisee — who paid tithes on every mint leaf in his garden, loved his children, traveled the whole world just to make a single convert, faithfully spent Sabbaths poring over the law– turn into such a vicious person? How could these husbandmen eventually kill and steal and crucify?

They were enraged! They had murder in their hearts. Thats not from the flesh — thats demonic! They stoned the messengers of the law! They knew what was demanded of them — but once they rebelled against the word of God, bitterness took root in their hearts.

Beloved, bitterness blinds! You lose your spiritual vision in proportion to the growth of your bitterness. The more your bitterness grows, the more your blindness grows. Let a root of bitterness fester — let the wound turn to gangrene, — let the sore spread its poison all through your soul — and you will end up just like these violent Pharisees, so blind they finally crucified the Son of God!

If you continue in the gall of bitterness, you will end up with other bitter souls, prating; throwing stones at Gods holy servants, playing the part of a poor misunderstood martyr. You will end up at gall-gatherings, where others share your rebellion.

If you continue in the gall of bitterness, you will open your very heart and soul to demon possession! You will end up a mouthpiece of the devil. Your tongue will become a spear that pierces the side of Christ. You will hang Him on open shame before all who know you. And you will shut out the voices of all preachers and prophets!

The work of God will go on, with other husbandmen willing to obey. God will say to you what Peter said to Simon : “Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God” (Acts 8:21)

Has someone in the house of God wounded you? Do you have a root of bitterness? I beg you: Run to the healer of all wounds and ask Him to pluck it out by the roots!

“Let all bitterness, and wrath and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:31) Stop it — now!

The Witchcraft of Rebellion Ends
in a Lack Of Reverence for Jesus!

“But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son” (Matthew 21:37).

The immediate application of this parable was to the Pharisees and religious leaders Jesus was addressing. They had shut their ears to the prophets and watchmen God had sent them so often. “Behold I send unto you prophets… some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them ye shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city” (Matthew 23:34).

Jesus was speaking this parable to expose the plan of Satan. He was trying to show that a satanic plot was behind their lack of reverence for Him — and their shutting out His truth!

Christ had told them their rebellion had turned them into children of Satan: “Why do you not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do…. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not” (John 8:43-45).

This was the message: “You became bitter, rebellious! You opened your soul to the devil. He filled you with wounds, bruises, putrefying sores — and now you are full of death. Violence is in your heart. You cant hear a word I say.

“No prophet can reach you now, no watchman! Not even I can touch you. You are giving my inheritance to Satan! You were to be my people, but you would not. You sold yourself to the enemy. You despised my authority!”

These husbandmen did not reverence Him. They rebelled and killed Him. But Satan did not get the inheritance — a resurrected Christ gave it to others.

Looking at those Pharisees, you have to wonder: Why did they show such disrespect to Him? Why no reverence? Why could they not hear or understand His words? Why such blindness?

Many in Gods house today suffer an even greater blindness. The Holy Ghost comes to us, willing to show us the meaning of all that Jesus said to us. He convicts us of our sin. We have been translated out of darkness, into His light. So why, then, do so many in the church still go about under this spell of witchcraft — still prating, bitter and wounded — still holding onto this spirit of rebellion?

Some have already gone too far, as did these Pharisees. “He will miserably destroy those wicked men” (Matthew 21:41). Others are falling deeper and deeper into the devils snare, and only a thunderbolt from heaven can wake them up to the danger!

You simply cannot go on with roots of bitterness. You cannot go on green with envy and jealousy. You cannot go on wounded and hurt, blaming others. You cannot go on disregarding the clear hand of God — unless you have lost your reverence for Jesus!

Jesus is standing at your hearts door even now. He is saying, “The Father sent Me. Show me your fruit — your obedience! You were planted in good soil; you have had time to grow. What kind of harvest do you have for Me?”

Reverence for Jesus is not a feeling; it is not words. Respect and reverence mean doing what He said! It means obeying His Word, laying aside all the hurt and putting yourself completely in His hands.

If you put down this message still clinging to your wounds, holding onto your grudges, justifying your bitterness — you not only disrespect Christ, but you are also putting Him to open shame and crucifixion once again.

There Is Hope For the Rebellious

Beloved, I could not deliver this message if God had not given me a word of encouragement for those who long to be free of their rebellion. Its found in Psalm 107: 9-14.

“For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the most High: Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help.

“Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in s
